Response to peer's comments on New Literacies Project

After reviewing Amber’s comments regarding my Prezi, I was pleasantly surprised how effective my presentation was in teaching a new literacy to another teacher candidate as well as helping her understand the new technology better. Her comments reinforced my decisions in what to include in my presentation and helped me to see that it was effective in aiding a thorough explanation of what emotional literacy is and why it is important in incorporating this literacy into every classroom. She really enjoyed that I incorporated different books to help teach the literacy I my presentation rather than just saying books can help you teach the literacy, and that I incorporated different forms of media to keep the viewer’s attention. I am glad that I incorporated the video into my presentation, because it seemed to really help her in understanding further what emotional literacy is, and how other schools are incorporating it into their classrooms. I felt that this video was an excellent example for future teachers to see how it is really being implemented and a great resource for ideas. Her comments reinforced my thoughts regarding this.

            I am also glad that I was able to lower her anxiety with using the Prezi since this is a new technology that not many people know how to use and it can seem intimidating but it really is not that difficult to use. It seems that Amber now is more comfortable with using this technology and may be able to use it in the future. She has now realized that there are easy to use controls and many different features that can make an effective presentation.

            I am glad that I chose to research this literacy, because it has huge implications for every classroom. I think that this is a literacy that every teacher needs to be educated in, and I am glad that I was able to further one teacher’s knowledge of this literacy to help her as she goes into to teach her own classroom.
